“2023 has been a year of lights and shadows”, stated Raoul Bontempi, CEO of Bontempi VIBO S.p.a., in an interview for Fastener and Fixing Magazine. The reasons behind this declaration are motivated by the European distribution market that, between 2022 and 2023, found itself in a situation of a generalized surplus of stock, due to preceding different market and geopolitical conditions, facing a demand that was beginning to experience sharp setbacks, and a steel price that had begun to drop precipitously.

While predicting a European economic recovery, Bontempi VIBO hopes that buyers in the European fastener industry will have learned from the difficulties experienced and will now be able to plan for activities and cooperations with reliable and durable European partners, making them more responsive once the market starts to grow again.

Looking towards the future Bontempi VIBO expects a market impacted by the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) regulation and by sustainability.
